Kate + Ben // Destination Wedding-Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Kate & Ben are extremely special people, and when two special people decide to have their wedding in a place like Jamaica, you know you're in for the wedding of a lifetime. Amy (my wife) & Kate have been best friends for a few years, so I have known Kate & Ben for a while. I was extremely honored to have them ask me to shoot their wedding.

Kate & Ben were married at the Sandals Ochi resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The day started with Kate & her bridesmaids getting their hair and make up done while Ben & his groomsmen spent time hanging out at the various pools and beaches the resort provides. Once everyone was ready, Kate & Ben had their first look among the beautiful green palms. After more photos, the ceremony, a cocktail hour, and dinner, the party began. Everyone danced the night away and celebrated this great love underneath the stunning Jamaican sky where the moon and stars shined as if they were celebrating, too. This reception also included something I had never witnessed or shot before--a fire dancer.  All in all, the day was an incredible expression of love.

Kelcee + Ethan // Engagement Session // Cummins Falls, Cookeville TN

Kelcee and Ethan are more than just another couple; they are a couple of close friends. I've gone to school with Kelcee since 4th grade and met Ethan in college before they even started dating! It been great to see their story develop and form over the years of knowing them both. This past July we all adventured out to Cummins Falls in Cookeville, Tennessee for their engagement shoot. I've been wanting to do a session at Cummins Fall for a long time.

It was a pretty big leap of faith. I had been to Cummins a few times before, and each time it was packed full of people hiking and swimming. Throw in some chances of storms on the radar and there were plenty of reasons this shoot could have derailed before it even got started. To say it worked out to perfection might be an understatement. As we hiked through the gorge to get to the falls, stopping here and there to take shots, the rain held off. As we finally came upon the falls, we could hear the voices of the crowds of people that would make it difficult to shoot around. But as we approached, the lifeguards and rangers controlling the masses signaled for everyone to leave. (You have to be out of the park by 6pm!) After a moment of hesitation, we decided to go for it anyways, and as the crowds cleared out it left us just enough of a window to shoot uninhibited by people crowding the the falls. It could not have been better timing. As we hiked back out and made it to the car to leave the rain started to pour down and didn't stop till we made it back to Nashville. I felt like we had just cheated the system somehow to get it to work out that perfectly.

Overall it was awesome. Thanks to Kelcee and Ethan for being the free-spirited, and fun-loving adventurous people they are! Check out that shoot below!

Amber + Eli // Intimate Backyard Wedding // Nashville, TN

I have always wanted to photograph an intimate backyard wedding. This past June I had the privilege of doing so for a close family and friend I have known almost my entire life in the backyard of a house I have spent countless hours playing around in growing up. To come back here and photograph a wedding in the same yard where my friends and I used to make spoof movies of all the Lord of the Rings was slightly surreal (we called them Lord of the Rock in case you were wondering and yes, they were instant classics).

Though an outside wedding ceremony in early June can produce some less than ideal situations with possible rain or even extreme heat, this day carried none of that. The area was nice and shaded by all the trees and greenery around and no rain showed up. I loved the floral decorations that were full of sunflowers and roses giving the surrounding greenery some nice bright colors. The ceremony was touching and sweet and after a short flip to add some tables the reception began under the same trees. The evening consisted of lawn games, friends, family and plenty of food and drink. Amazingly the groom cooked and prepared all the food for the reception! Quite an accomplishment. The night ended with the moon beginning to appear, and the desert being presented. It was a perfect day for Amber and Eli to commit their love to each other in front of their closest friends and family. I am honored that I was able to be a part of it! Check out their day below!

Barbara + Darrius // April 8, 2017

Barbara and Darrius were married this past April at the historic Hermitage Hotel in Downtown Nashville.  It was a stunning venue and location for a great couple to commit and celebrate their love to each other

Barbara and her bridesmaids got ready in the studio at the hotel while Darrius and his groomsmen prepared elsewhere.Everyone met at the elegant Hermitage ballroom where the ceremony was held that afternoon. Beautiful white drapes and flowers lined the borders setting the mood and creating and elegant scene for the commitment of love between Barbara and Darrius.

After the ceremony we all ran outside and around the corner to take pictures in front of  War Memorial. The soft golden glow of the sunset treated us to some beautiful lighting while the ballroom was flipped for the reception.

The rest of the night held a lot of fun and dancing! Barbara and Darrius concluded their night by a grand exit out of the hotel with colorful glow sticks! It was a great day and I was honored to be a small part of it! Congrats to Barbara and Darrius Thompson!
